Guess What I Won’t Be Buying
by Josh on Nov.14, 2008, under video
Cause they couldn’t just give it to us to say they are sorry. Maybe I’ll save my money if they actually improve the game, or maybe I won’t cause Maxis is the biggest disappointment ever anymore cause of EA.
EA Makes Me Sick
by Josh on Oct.17, 2008, under blog
Now that there is confirmed DRM constrictions on Farcry 2 very similar to Spore, which I have given up on cause it still pisses me off from time to time when I play, I have now been faced with a huge problem. I’ve been known to download and play games that don’t have demos or if I am not sure they would work on my machine. In most cases I bought the games in the end except in a few cases where I couldn’t purchase the game I desired due to not having a credit card or my local store didn’t carry it. Now I don’t have this excuse, I do have a credit card and digital distribution is growing.
Comparing EA to services like Steam which also employ a DRM shows what EA is clearly doing wrong. Steam has its flaws, however on the whole they are doing it correctly. EA only allows you a certain amount of installations from your own CD / DVDs that you actually own while additionally being tired to only one account, Steam has a download client that allows you to install on any computer unlimited times and allows you to play that game under your Steam account that you purchased the game with. Steam also allows you to play your games offline, while EA… sometimes allows that, the times I’ve started up Spore and it told me it cannot boot without a internet connection nearly caused a stroke due to the rapid rise in my blood pressure.
While EA listens to the complaints about their DRM they also believe it isn’t paying costumers that are complaining about suffering from the DRM. Well this paying costumer won’t be paying to suffer from DRM anymore. EA your products are worth stealing and hacking solve the problems that you cannot. I am glad to pay for the freedom to play my games the way I want. However I will no longer pay so I can suffer for your “protection”. I suggest that you boycott any game that employs EA’s style of DRM and stick to DRM-Free or light protection software.
I remember looking in the manual for Copy Right Protection Codes, I didn’t mind that so much, helped me remember where I kept my manuals.
You souldn’t Pirate software but… YARRR!
